Located 20 miles north of Fairbanks, on top of Mt. Aurora, Mt. Aurora Fairbanks Creek Lodge is adjacent to Alaska's premier aurora viewing area: Mt. Aurora/ SkiLand..... The view from the Lodge covers a 270 degrees of the sky, offering spectacular viewing of the aurora with dark, clear skies from mid-August to mid-April. Although the aurora can be viewed from the lodge's deck, most guests choose to join the social activities and lure of the 360-degree full-sky view at Mt. Aurora/SkiLand.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute has a weekly Aurora prediction site and operates the Poker Flat Rocket Range about eight miles north. Scientists from around the globe congregate here in the winter to study the northern lights. |
